The C-5 Galaxy model airplane is hand-carved from solid mahogany, hand-painted by our gifted artists, and packed with authentic detail based on the actual C-5 Galaxy aircraft blueprints. Our C-5 Galaxy wooden model aircraft is ideally suited for collectibles, executive gifts, premium and promotional incentives, art gallery "sculptures", and many other purposes. Each C-5 wood aircraft model is hand carved and completely hand painted to match the original aircraft’s exact variant, paint scheme and registration number. Even the C-5 Galaxy’s hand-made bombs, rockets, drop tanks, and missile were correctly reproduced to show the real weapon loads to give it an impressive value. Multiple coats of clear lacquer were also applied on the C-5 model airplane to generate an overall glossy effect.
To top it off, the C-5 Galaxy wood model aircraft is provided with a mahogany stand. We firmly believe that our C-5 wooden airplane model is the finest kind in its price range.
History:
The C-5 Galaxy aircraft was produced and developed by Lockheed and is one of the largest aircraft in the world. The C-5 aircraft can carry 36 standard pallets and up to 81 troops simultaneously. The C-5 Galaxy is especially designed to provide strategic heavy airlift over intercontinental distances. The features of the C-5 are as follows: carry all the Army air transportable combat equipment, carry outsize and over size cargo, capable to operate on runways 6000 feet long, six landing gear totaling 28 wheels to distribute weight, nose and aft doors that open the full width and height of the cargo compartment to permit faster and easier loading, a kneeling landing gear system, full width drive on ramps at each end and a system that records and analyzes information and detects malfunctions.
The C-5 Galaxy aircrafts were operated by active-duty, Reserve and Air National Guard crews. On March 1989, 50 C-5B were added to the 76 C-5A in the Air Force structure. Thus, the C-5B variant included all the C-5A improvements and more than 100 additional system modifications to improve consistency and maintainability. Aside from C-5A and C-5B other variants of the C-5 aircraft were the C-5C which is a modified variant for transporting large cargo and the C-5M.
