Each part of the CV-22 Osprey scale model is painstakingly hand-carved by master craftsmen, and undergoes priming and sanding several times until it is perfect. Talented artists meticulously paint each and every detail, no matter how big or small. The result is a replica that is a faithful reproduction of the original aircraft. A coat of clear lacquer not only provides the finishing touch, but also ensures that details are properly protected. Each scale model goes through various stages of quality control before reaching our customers and comes with a beautiful mahogany stand. More than just a replica, it is a true work of art. The CV-22 Osprey model airplane is perfect as an addition to a growing collection or as an exquisite gift to a loved one.

History:

The CV-22 Osprey is a joint service, multimission, military tiltrotor aircraft. It combines the vertical takeoff and landing qualities of a helicopter with the long range, fuel efficiency and speed characteristics of a turboprop aircraft. Built by the joint development team of Bell Helicopter Textron and Boeing Helicopters collectively known as Bell Boeing, its primary role is to conduct long range infiltration, exfiltration and resupply missions for special operations forces. The CV-22 is the United States Air Force version of the US Marine Corps MV-22 Osprey.

The Osprey typically operates as a helicopter with the nacelles vertical and the rotors horizontal for takeoff and landing. Once airborne, the nacelles rotate forward 90 degrees in as little as 12 seconds for horizontal flight, converting the aircraft to a more fuel efficient, higher speed turboprop. Short takeoff and landing capability can be achieved by tilting the nacelles forward to 45 degrees.

The first two test aircraft were delivered to Edwards Air Force Base (AFB), California in September 2000 for flight testing. The first operational CV-22 was delivered to the 58th Special Operations Wing at Kirtland AFB, New Mexico on March 20, 2006, and aircrew training began in August 2006. Initial operating capability of the aircraft is scheduled for 2009, with a total of 50 CV-22s delivered by 2017.
