The L-39 Albatross was built as the successor of the L-29 Delfin. The construction of the L-39 began in 1966 and the first prototype had its original flight on November 4, 1968. The main idea of the design is to fabricate an efficient, powerful turbofan engine to a sleek, streamlined fuselage, resulting in a strong, economical performer which would become the next standard jet trainer for Warsaw Pact. The L-39 is the most popular jet warbird in the world and 300 of it is flying in the USA alone.
The L39 Albatross is a high performance jet trainer aircraft. It was the first of the second generation jet trainers and the very first turbofan-powered trainer produced. The L-39 Albatross was later updated as the L-59 Albatross. The L-39 is adaptable, seeing duty in light attack missions as well as basic and advanced pilot training, and it is the most widely used jet trainer in the world.
Our L-39 Albatross model airplane is ideally suited for collectibles, executive gifts, premium and promotional incentives, art gallery "sculptures", and many other purposes. Working from exact blueprints, our L-39 Albatross model aircraft is sculptured by our master craftsmen from specially treated mahogany wood. The L-39 wood model is made to recognized collector scales for enhanced value. Every part of the wooden aircraft is assembled precisely into place using the highest quality adhesive available. After shaping and sanding, the L-39 Albatross wooden airplane model passes through several stages of priming and sanding before it is hand-painted to duplicate the actual colors of the historical aircraft. Our artisans detail from researched reference materials, including all the insignias, squadron badges, nose-art, emblems and serial numbers, to replicate the original aircraft to scale.
Next, multiple coats of clear lacquer are applied to protect the exquisite artwork and provide an overall glossy finish. Finally, the L-39 Albatross model airplane is provided with a natural stained mahogany stand. We believe our L39 wood model aircraft represents the highest valued collectible in its price range.
