This UCAV Demonstrator model airplane is an authentic replica made from the finest grade of composite materials. Every part is assembled precisely into place. The UCAV Demonstrator model airplane passes through various stages; it is hand-painted to duplicate the actual colors of the original historical aircraft. Every detail of the actual aircraft is also copied -- from insignias to squadron badges, nose-art, emblems and serial numbers. Multiple coats of clear lacquer are applied to protect the artwork and provide an overall glossy finish.

History:

The Boeing Unmanned Combat Air Vehicle (UCAV) is a demonstrator for the next generation of autonomous fighter aircraft also known as “combat drones”. UCAVs are different from UAVs because they are designed to deliver weapons and attack targets with a great degree of autonomy. UCAVs are to be programmed with route and target details, and conduct the mission unmanned.

The goal of the UCAV was to develop the technologies required to conduct suppression of enemy air defense missions as to the air-to-ground roles with defensive air-to-air capabilities coupled with significant remote piloting. A larger X-45A, X-45B was designed to have more fuel capacity and three times combat range becoming the X-45C. X-45N was the proposal to the Navy’s Unmanned Combat Air Systems demonstration project.

The air vehicle can carry advanced precision guided munitions, 2,000 lb bombs or other munitions and weapons systems. The aircraft is equipped with a suite of sensors including an Active Electronic Scanned Array (AESA), Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and an electronic support measures system developed by Raytheon. At the same time, the sensor allows detection, identification and location of mobile targets in real time. The operator station is equipped with artificial intelligence decision aids to assist the operator during the battlefield situation and to authorize UCAV weapon release.

The NASA designed the ground control station of the UCAV. BAE System Controls has been contracted to supply the computerized vehicle management system.
