Each part of the Tupolev Tu-95 Bear scale model is hand-carved from the highest quality of mahogany, then primed and sanded several times. Talented artists apply their paintbrushes to replicate every single detail with extraordinary accuracy. Nothing is left out; insignias, squadron badges, nose art, emblems and serial numbers that are on the actual aircraft will also be found on the replica.
History:
The Tupolev Tu-95 also known as Bear is the most successful and longest serving Tupolev strategic bomber and missile carrier built by the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The Tu-95 Bear intercontinental bomber began in the early 1950s after series of production of the medium-range Tu-4 started.
Tu-95 Bear has continued to operate in the Russian Air Force while several iterations of bomber design have come and gone like its American counterpart, the B-52 Stratofortress. The Tupolev Tu-95 was originally used for nuclear weapons but subsequently modified for a wider range of roles. Some of these rules are to deploy cruise missiles, maritime patrol for the Tu-114 and civil airliner for the Tu-126.
The Tu-95RT variant was a veritable icon of the Cold War when it performed a vital maritime surveillance and targeting mission for other aircraft and surface ships and submarines used to target and search surface ships. During interceptions Tu-95 tail gunners kept their own twin cannon pointed upwards to not antagonizing the intercepting fighters. During the Cold War the long range of the Tu-95 was demonstrated weekly as a pair of Tu-95s would fly to Kola Peninsula to Cuba.
The Tu-95s of the Soviet Union was passed onto Ukraine and Russia; on the other hand, Ukraine’s Tu-95s had retired from service. Only Russia and India have been operating the Tu-95s.
