Hand-made and hand-painted, the B-2 Spirit wooden scale model is of museum quality. Carefully carved from mahogany by skilled craftsmen, every piece is sanded and primed many times until perfect. A final coat of clear lacquer seals in the intricate details which have been meticulously painted on by talented artists. Each model comes with a beautiful mahogany-based chrome pedestal.
History:
The B-2 Spirit is a stealth heavy bomber capable of deploying conventional and nuclear weapons manufactured by Northrop Grumman exclusively for the use of United States Air Force. The Spirits technology is intended to aid the aircraft’s penetration role to survive dense anti-aircraft defenses. The B-2 made its first flight in July 17, 1989 and underwent tests with Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards Air Force Base and B-2 Combined Test Force.
The B-2 provides the versatility inherent in manned bombers together with the B-52 Stratofortress and B-1 Lancer. Its stealth characteristics gave it the ability to penetrate an enemy’s most sophisticated defenses and attack its most heavily defended targets.
Since its debut in 1999 at the Kosovo War, the B-2 has operated over Afghanistan in Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraq in Operation Iraqi Freedom. B-2 reached full operational capability in December 2003 and maintained high mission capable rates.
