History:

The B-2 Spirit is a multi-role stealth heavy bomber, capable of deploying both conventional and nuclear weapons exclusively operated by the United States Air Force. The B-2’s stealth technology is intended to aid the aircraft’s penetration role in order to survive extremely dense anti-aircraft defenses otherwise considered impenetrable by combat aircraft.

The B-2 Spirit was debuted during the Kosovo war in 1999 where it introduced its satellite guided JDAM in combat use. The aircraft has operated over Afghanistan in Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraq in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Later missions to Iraq launched from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri.

From 1989 to 1004, the South Dakota Air and Space Museum located on the grounds of Ellsworth Air Force Base displayed a 10-ton, 3/5 scale Honda Stealth. Honda donated the model to the Museum in 1989, with the stipulation the model be destroyed if it were replaced with a different aircraft.
